Celebrate MLK Day in Atlanta

Atlanta is the birthplace of one of the most iconic American heroes of the century, a global destination for visitors to the museum dedicated to the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

MLK Day is a big deal in Atlanta, a time for honoring the sacrifices of the past, nurturing our hopes for the future, and inspiring the fellowship shared by all peoples. It’s also time for some of the best events of the year.

One can’t visit Atlanta in January without visiting The King Center, a National Historic Site dedicated to historical research and tolerance, not far from our hotel. Visit the home where MLK was born, pay your respects to his final resting place, view historical artifacts depicting social change, and join the party to celebrate this emblematic symbol’s ninetieth birthday. MLK’s birthday celebration is city-wide with visits to the High Museum of Art, the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library & Museum, plus the National Center for Civil & Human Rights. Most of these attractions are free to the public or discounted to honor Dr. King’s legacy.
